Bright Futures is an earned uplift programme targeting our farmers from disadvantaged communities. A structured ladder of opportunity and incentives, the programme has four stages: Bronze, consisting of basic horticulture and computer classes; Silver, adds business, and life skills training, and continues with horticultural training under the guidance of Haygrove managers. Gold participants work unsupervised, but mentored, on designated land with raspberries or blueberries; and Platinum, where participants form their own businesses as partner growers with Haygrove.
Bright Futures has changed me and my colleagues from being general farm workers to being business people.
