After studying Horticulture and Agriculture economics at Stellenbosch University, Mark spent 3 years travelling through the USA, Australia and England. Work during these years included farming with cherries in Michigan, citrus in Florida, winemaking in California, beekeeping in Hawaii, apples in Victoria, vegetables in Queensland and operating a combine harvester in the UK.
These travels eventually led Mark to manage a strawberry farm for 4 years in Herefordshire, UK. The farm had 20 hectares covered with Haygrove tunnels. After moving back to South Africa in 2002 Haygrove South Africa was born. In the early days, Mark was responsible for all Haygrove activities including managing stock, hoop bending loading of trucks, tunnel construction, sales and sales support.
Mark enjoys mountain biking and wildlife photography.
